Witch Hazel
One of the best hemorrhoid remedies, because it is an astringent, witch hazel constricts swollen blood vessels and rarely causes skin irritation. Dampen a wad of toilet paper with witch hazel and gently apply.
Psyllium
Psyllium, which is found in products such as Metamucil, is another one of the better hemorrhoid remedies. Take 3 grams daily. Make sure the product contains psyllium husks. Some manufacturers use the whole seed which has less fiber. You must drink plenty of water while taking psyllium.
Comfrey
Another one of the best hemorrhoid remedies consists of moistening powdered comfrey with a little bit of vegetable oil and applying it with a cotton ball. Or, look for a topical balm made with comfrey.
