Cough Home Remedies

When you cough, your body is getting rid of debris and mucous. Coughing is a part of the healing process.

When choosing cough home remedies, keep in mind that they are intended to either help the body heal itself, or provide some comfort and relief so that the body can rest better.

This will allow the body to relax better and get some sleep. Without rest and sleep the body cannot heal itself efficiently.

Garlic

One of the most effective cough home remedies is to use garlic. Garlic is a terrific natural antibiotic that can help in warding off colds and common upper respiratory infections. Two to four garlic cloves should be eaten daily.

Bananas

Bananas top the list for dry cough home remedies. Eat bananas that have been sliced and cooked into a thick soup.

Green Tea

Another of the better cough home remedies is green tea. This will soothe the throat. Add honey to the green tea for an extra soothing effect. Chamomile tea can be substituted for green tea.

Onions

This is one of those traditional cough home remedies consisting of onions simmered in water until soft with a little honey added. One onion is eaten every four hours.
