Bad Breath Remedies

Parsley

Parsley is one of the best bad breath remedies because it contains chlorophyll, the same ingredient found in some commercial breath sprays. Parsley doesn't just cover up the bad breath, it actually eliminates the bad breath.

Slowly chew a little bit of fresh parsley, the longer it stays in your mouth, the more it deodorizes your mouth.

Cloves

Another one of the more effective bad breath remedies, because they are rich in eugenol, a very aromatic, antibacterial substance which is often used in mouthwashes and toothpastes.

Use whole cloves only. Take one clove and very gently work it between your teeth. Do this for a few minutes.

Baking Soda

This is one of the simpler bad breath remedies. Mix one teaspoon of baking soda with enough water to form a thin paste. Clean your teeth, tongue and gums with the mixture and then rinse your mouth out good.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa contains a lot of chlorophyll, which combats bad breath where it originates, in the bloodstream and colon, believe it or not.

Take 1000 mg in tablet form, or mix 1 tablespoon of liquid in a cup of water, three times daily.

Peppermint

Fresh peppermint ranks very high on the list of bad breath remedies, and for good reason. Peppermint contains a lot of menthol, and can attack the bad breath from a few different angles.

Not only does peppermint kill the bad breath bacteria in your mouth, but it also travels through the bloodstream, coming out through the pores of your skin as you sweat and also through the lungs as you breath.

Break off a few leaves of fresh peppermint, chew them slowly for a few minutes and then swallow them.

Myrrh

Used since biblical times, myrrh is one of the oldest bad breath remedies. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of powdered myrrh with 2 cups of water and simmer the mixture for about 30 minutes. Sip and enjoy the tea.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps to heal gum disease and also helps prevent bleeding gums. It also reduces extra mucus and toxins that can often be the cause of bad breath. Take 2000 to 6000 mg per day.

Cardamom

Another one of the oldest bad breath remedies is cardamom. Arab cultures have used it for bad breath as well as an aphrodisiac. Take a few cardamom seeds and chew them for a while, then spit them out.
