Because cayenne pepper, or red pepper contains capsaicin, a very potent pain relieving chemical, it is one of the most effective back pain remedies. Mash up a red pepper and apply it directly on the painful area of your back.
You can also take the mashed up red pepper and add it to any common, all natural, skin or body lotion, until the mixture starts to turn dark pink, and apply that to the area where the back pain is located.
Peppermint Lavender Rosemary Oil
Mix 4 drops of peppermint oil, lavender oil and rosemary oil with 1/2 ounce of safflower oil. This is one of the most soothing back pain remedies. Warm up the mixture and use it as an oil-rub to massage the affected area.
All three major ingredients will relieve inflammation, prevent muscle spasms, and decrease back pain.
Fire And Ice
Ice helps reduce swelling and strain of the back muscles. Apply an ice pack to the affected area and massage the area for about 10 minutes, every 3 hours, for 2 to 3 days. This combination of ice and heat is another one of the more soothing back pain remedies.
After applying ice for about 3 days, switch to heat. Place a soft towel into a large bowl of mildly hot water.Wring it out and while laying on your stomach, apply the warm towel to the affected area where the back pain is located.
Put some plastic wrap over that, and then apply a heating pad, set to medium, over the plastic wrap. Now place something rather heavy on top of the heating pad, like a telephone book, to create a bit of pressure.
Tumeric's anti-inflammatory properties make it one of the better back pain remedies. Take 400 mg of extract in capsule form 3 times per day.
