Arthritis RemediesWater The most basic of all arthritis remedies is just simply drinking enough water every day. Your joints need to be well lubricated with moisture in order to move smoothly. In addition, the cells in your joints need a sufficient amount of water to get rid of toxins that build up. Excessive build up of toxins causes inflammation of the joints. Drink at least six to eight 8 ounce glasses of water every day. If you drink a lot of coffee or any other drinks that have a high caffeine content, you should drink even more water. These drinks act as diuretics and flush water out of your body. Of course, your best course of action would be to minimize or eliminate your consumption of diuretics. Hot and Cold Use Ice for when your joints are inflamed or when you experience sudden flare ups of pain. Use Heat for when your joints simply ache. A hot bath, hot water bottle or heating pad will do the trick. Ginger Ginger is an anti-inflammatory, which makes it one of the best arthritis remedies. Slice up some Ginger Root and steep a few slices in a tea ball in one cup of water. Let it cool down a little bit before drinking. Lemon and Sandalwood Get a small jar of Petroleum Jelly and remove about one tablespoon of it from the jar. Mix 20 drops of Lemon Essential Oil and 20 drops of Sandalwood Essential Oil with the remaining Petroleum Jelly. Apply to sore joints and rub it in. Do this four times a day. Comfrey Apply a Comfrey poultice to the affected area. Grind up Comfrey leaves real fine and spread the mixture onto a cloth. Wrap or apply the cloth to the area of pain for an hour or so. Tumeric is chemically similiar to Ginger. You can also take it in capsule form. Take one or two 500 milligram capsules of extract three times a day. This is one of the easiest arthritis remedies. Studies have shown that the active ingredient in Tumeric is as effective at treating arthritis as the anti-inflammatory drug phenylbutazone. Flax Seed Another one of the better arthritis remedies. Take advantage of the anti-inflammatory effects of the Omega-3 fatty acids found in Flax Seeds or Flax Seed Oil. Take two teaspoons a day.
