Acne Home Remedies

Zinc

Zinc is one of the best acne home remedies. For severe cases, take 50 milligrams of zinc three times a day. For average cases, take 50 milligrams per day.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil, with its sweet aroma, has significant antiseptic and antibacterial properties that can help heal acne scars faster.

Dab blemished areas with a drop of lavender oil to help them heal faster. This is one of the quickest acne home remedies.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil also places towards the top of the list of acne home remedies. Apply tea tree oil on blemishes three times a day to prevent infection and promote faster healing.

Chaste Tree Berry and Calendula

If you are prone to breakouts caused by the fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone that accompany your menstrual cycle, try drinking
a tea made with chaste tree berry and calendula.

Once you ovulate, start drinking one to two cups of tea a day and continue until your period begins. It may take two or three cycles before you notice an improvement in your acne breakouts.

Drink one to two cups of tea daily, not any more than that.

Juniper

Another one of the more soothing acne home remedies that also has strong antibacterial properties is Juniper.

Take 10 drops of juniper essential oil and mix it with 1 ounce of jojoba oil. Apply it to your face and gently rub it in. Then wash your face with a mild cleanser and rinse with warm water.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus

Lactobacillus acidophilus is a strain of beneficial bacteria which is similar to certain bacteria normally found in the human intestinal tract.

There have been cases where acne has been cleared up rather quickly by taking acidophilus tablets.

For even faster results and smoother skin, apply acidophilus in the liquid form directly to the affected areas of skin, in addition to taking the capsules. This is another one of the quicker acne home remedies.

Witch Hazel

This is one of those old-fashioned acne home remedies that your grandmother probably used. Witch hazel is a good astringent, and when used daily, it helps remove excess oil and kill bacteria on the skin.

Blot acne areas twice a day.

Witch Hazel and Sage

This combination is one of the strongest acne home remedies. Put ten fresh sage leaves into an eight ounce bottle of witch hazel. Let the combination stand for about a week, then apply it on the skin after cleansing, in the morning and evening.
